Run A Food Drive

With Your Class, Neighbourhood, Business, Church, Group, etc.

Food drives are a great way to make a difference in ending hunger and to give back to your community. Anyone can run a food drive, at any time of year, and no amount is too small.

Are you interested in running a food drive? Check out this handy guide on How to Run A Food Drive, or check out our Most Needed Items List.

Most Needed Item List

Looking to get started on your food drive? We’re happy to help! Let us know about your food drive by emailing Siobhan at or by filling out the form below. We will get in touch with you to arrange drop off or pick up for larger donations.

Healthy Food Choices

We work hard to present the healthiest food options for our community as we can. We welcome you to take a look at this document created by the Region of Waterloo’s Public Health Department: Better Food to Buy.

In this document, you will find an extensive list of non-perishable products that are recommended as healthy options for your donations. Also, don’t forget that we love to receive fresh foods such as fruits and vegetables!

Are you passionate about the wellbeing of neighbours in your community? Want to learn new skills, do some good work, and serve your community? The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank wouldn’t exist without the contributions of members of our community – just like you. Join the over 1000 people who volunteer with us annually, and help to serve your community!

We accept and support:

  • Individual Volunteers
  • Group and Corporate Volunteers
  • Student Volunteers
  • Internships and Other Placements

We want to ensure each volunteer has a positive and rewarding experience with us. Some groups will volunteer once in the year, while others will volunteer week after week – some for a decade or more!

As a Volunteer you may be involved in helping with any of the following events/areas:

  • Emergency hamper room
  • Co-op store
  • Warehouse support
  • Special events
  • Serving on the Board of Directors or other committees

If this is something you would enjoy please contact Tara for more details.
